We are gathering some speed now in terms of finishing our new loft space.  The bathroom is now completely done and ready for a bath or a shower or some dirty laundry.

Incredible, but true!  We are finished with the loft kitchen and have even moved in some cookware and dishes.  It feels great to finally reach this point and we think the outcome is a pretty fun and functional space.

At least our progress has been faster than the rate at which I have posted pictures.  We are moving along quickly now but wanted to share the design we came up with for tiling the bar counter.

We have a 14 ft. by 15 ft. loft space above the kitchen area.  It is now a great space with beautiful cork flooring and a window seat along one wall with good storage.  It is a space tall enough to stand up in when in the center of the room.  I see lots of over-sized floor pillows and books everywhere!

It's happening!  The fire engine red kitchen cabinets are in place!  There was a bit of frustration but the finished look is certainly coming together. The cabinets are still wearing their protective blue film, so the true color does not yet shine through.

The installation of the tile and in-floor electric heat is complete!  We love the look of the tile--and the in-floor heat keeps the tile toasty.  Our youngest grandson, Rawley, helped seal the seams between the cement backer board on the floor.

Progress seems so slow!  But we are making progress as these pictures of the interior metal siding will show!

Finally!!  An update!  Here is a look at the current state of the apartment.  The painting is complete and the colors are bold!  We love how it is coming together.  Stay tuned as we bring in more finish elements...

Our love of construction projects continues! We're creating a studio apartment in our barn which we'll be renting out when finished. We've decided to create a contemporary city loft look in this space due to all the unusual angles and abundance of light. We'll keep this page updated as work continues.
